Magesta Script is Ryan Martinson’s four-weight take on early 20th century script that captures and exaggerates the authentic qualities of letterpress printing. While not for everyday use it certainly works fine within grunge designs.

Here are some nice artworks based on a new Arabic typeface designed at Font Shop International headquarters in Berlin by Muiz Anwar. Muiz Anwar, born and raised in Manchester, UK, started to explore the arabic roots only after the events of 09/11 (to read the full story about the background of his work, check out the Q&A with him by Ibraheem Youssef).
Unfortunately, I couln’t find any evidence if the typeface is already finished or still under development. If you know more about it, please let me know.

Californya by Germán Olaya is the first script font family I’ve seen that convincingly looks like handwritten calligraphy rather than computer-generated typeface.
Californya is based on several manuscripts from 16th century, and completely reinterpreted with a vast series of characters drawn by hand. Each character is full of rich details, capturing the expression and style of a true calligraphy.
Californya exists in 3 different versions as well as a series of ornaments, ligatures and ink swashes.
